In his usual bohemian style, 39-year-old Kravitz wore a tiedyed shirt, snakeskin boots and beads around his neck.

Despite the lateness of the evening, he also wore his customary sunglasses as he left the restaurant, taking them off only briefly to find his limousine.

Miss Kidman, who won an Oscar for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in The Hours, recently moved into Kravitz's Manhattan home while building work is carried out on her own £4.2million home nearby.

Currently filming The Stepford Wives in New York, she is paying almost £25,000 a month rent for the rocker's apartment.

A spokesman for Miss Kidman said Kravitz was not living at the apartment with her and the pair are just 'old friends'.

However, they have been seen partying at New York nightclub Bungalow 8 and Miss Kidman was escorted by the rocker to one of rapper P Diddy's lavish parties in the city. Kravitz has a 14-year-old daughter, Zoe, with actress Lisa Bonet, to whom he was married for five years. They divorced in 1993. He has also dated Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia.

Miss Kidman has two adopted children with her former husband Tom Cruise.

-No Dogville follow-up for Nicole Kidman-

Nicole Kidman has dropped out of Lars von Trier's Manderlay, the second movie in the planned "U.S.A." trilogy that kicked off with this year's Cannes entry Dogville.

Her exit was caused by a scheduling conflict. The second film is on a tight timetable to finish shooting by July 2004, but Kidman is not available until the following fall.

The role of Grace in the "U.S.A" trilogy will now be played by three different actresses across the three movies.

Manderlay, which will reportedly deal with slavery in the American South, is expected to use the same challenging production techniques as the first film. The third picture in the trilogy will be titled Wasington.

-Will Nicole Kidman Play The Interpreter?-

Sydney Pollack is reportedly ready to direct his first film since Random Hearts, and he wants his Eyes Wide Shut co-star Nicole Kidman to play the title role in The Interpreter, a Working Title/Universal co-production to start filming next year.

Kidman is being courted to play a U.N. interpreter who overhears an assassination plot and becomes a target. She and a federal agent try to stop the murder of an African leader.

Kidman's being courted by every studio, however, from Columbia's Nora Ephron-directed Bewitched to the Miramax comedy I Don't Know How She Does It, a possible reteam with Cold Mountain director Anthony Minghella.
